How will GLCA teachers teach?
Most of the teaching will be in a traditional format lecture style classroom, round table discussion format or online curriculum for specialty courses with tutoring options.
How will teachers connect with students daily / weekly?
On a daily basis, teachers will instruct students and be present after instruction time to answer questions. This will help students achieve success.
Each month, students will meet with an on-site counselor to address emotional growth outside of the educational scope.
Additionally students will be required to meet with one of our four academic advisors bi-monthly.
What is Blended Learning?
Blended learning is the combination of face-to-face instruction, technology, and data to increase personalization, engagement, and mastery of essential skills. A blended learning classroom is a student-centered learning environment where students have some control over the pace, time, path, and place of their learning.
In short, blended learning integrates online content and instruction with traditional classroom teaching and experiences.
What is the school time?
Campus is open from 8am – 4pm Monday – Friday. There is flexibility for students. Students check in at their desired time. Friday, the campus remains open for students that need extra time to catch up and learn in any particular area.
What options will I have for following my student’s progress?
Communication from each teacher will occur on a regular basis and parents are always encouraged to reach out with questions and concerns.
What is the uniform policy?
The uniform policy is that each student should attend their academic day wearing a polo or button down collared shirt in the following solid colors: white, gray, maroon or black. Black or gray bottoms - pants, shorts, capris, skirts.
Athletic uniforms are chosen by the coach of each sport and will be distributed accordingly.
Can my child graduate early?
Yes. Once all requirements have been met, students can graduate.
What additional benefits will my child receive in participating in this type of academic environment?
Beyond the individualized attention each student will receive, we will offer a unique insight into real-life, and hands-on experiences. In our Gateway Experience Clinics, students will have the option to select from a variety of clinics offered throughout the week. These clinics will cater to an array of career interests as well as personal interests. See our Experience Clinics to learn more. Our Speaker Series allows opportunities for students to learn from top business leaders and experts in various industries and discover real life applications. We are in process of developing relationships with corporations for shadowing and in-the-field learning models that allow students to experience daily tasks in selected industries.
