Elementary School (K - 4) |
Welcome to Wonderland!Every fall children across the country embark on a
life-changing journey as they enter a new world in elementary school. Many tears are shed (mostly from parents) on the first day of kindergarten. Every year, your child embraces change and walks into a new world. This is a world that can excite growing minds, cause intimidation, and fundamentally form a child's impression of learning and education. At Gateway Legacy Christian Academy, we want to partner with your family on this adventure. We believe that school is an extension of the family unit. Children need love, care and guidance to help make these years form a foundation for success in our future generations. We emphasize that all teachers and staff should exemplify love and care in every situation. Children thrive in a learning environment when schools are more than just academics. Students thrive when schools incorporate variety, innovation, fun, social and emotional needs, and strong parental and community involvement. Through partnering together, we will help guide our children to be the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Gateway Legacy Christian Academy offers a personalized approach to learning. We have traditional classes that meet the needs of every student. Once a student enrolls, they receive a personalized academic plan that focuses on their strengths and acknowledges their weaknesses. This plan guides each students progress and helps in achieving great success for the entire year! |
Every month at Gateway Legacy Christian Academy students will experience a unique theme.
These themes are centered around behaviors and qualities that will have students reaching for the stars. September - Who Am I? October - Fall Into Learning November - 30 Days of THANKFULNESS December - You are the GIFT January - Express it! February - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE March - It's a ZOO April - Earth May - Blast Off Our elementary school is housed in the historic White building on our campus. This beautiful building was the first college west of the Mississippi in the United States. The original building was the original site for the St. Stanislaus Seminary.
The seminary was founded in 1823 as some log buildings and a large farm to feed the missionaries. They had come to Florissant from Maryland at the behest of Saint Philippine Duchesne. It was named for Stanislaus Kostka. The main building, once known as the Old Rock Building, was built from 1840 to 1849 from limestone quarried by the Jesuits. Pierre-Jean De Smet was based in St. Stanislaus Seminary for some years.

Micro Electives are a cornerstone of our middle school program. These electives are a hands on explosion of FUN! Electives last two to four weeks of the school year and immerse students into the world of creativity all while learning to explore new worlds of learning. Each of these electives will be presented to our students with FUN class names that will have your child forgetting this is school!
Art and music are a part of everyday life for our students.

Emotional Skills Class
Self-awareness, impulse control, empathy, teamwork, and responsible decision-making are just some of the social emotional skills that help students succeed in and out of school. Unfortunately, many students aren't developing them. At Gateway we use a life changing curriculum called Habitudes!
The Habitudes for Social and Emotional Learning curriculum uses memorable imagery, real-life stories and practical experiences to teach timeless skills in a way that is relevant to students today. Students are constantly using images to communicate via emojis, Instagram, and Snapchat. Why not utilize their favorite language to bridge the gap between learning and real-life application as part of your social emotional learning program?
